Position Overview
ECU MFG HW/SW Engineer provides dedicated ownership of software release management across engineering builds, manufacturing, sustaining, and operations teams for In house Low Voltage ECUs. As program volume, ECU content, software complexity, production deployment, and sustaining activities continue to increase, a centralized resource is required to manage release timing, content readiness, validation status, traceability, field/manufacturing issue follow-up, and resolution across concurrent programs. This role supports both new program launches and sustaining operations by maintaining released software packages, coordinating updates for production and service needs, ensuring software and flashing information remain accurate, and driving closure of issues that impact internal sites, contract manufacturers, and ongoing production. This role will improve execution discipline by ensuring software releases and sustaining updates are planned, tracked, validated, documented, and communicated through each phase from engineering development to production rollout and post-launch support.
Key Responsibilities
Support sustaining activities by coordinating troubleshooting for hardware-related issues impacting ECU flashing, manufacturing test execution, software deployment, or production continuity
Act as the technical point of contact between the in-house Low Voltage ECU team and Lucid Manufacturing teams to align on sustaining issues, escalation paths, technical containment, and production support needs
Serve as the central resource to establish and track SW releases, timing and content rollout based off program plans within cross functionals teams
Act as user champion when coordinating software releases with business stakeholders
Manage in-house ECU SW release process with Test Team (MFG), Operations and Contact Manufacturers
Collaborate with TPMs, SW engineers and test engineers to implement and maintain release management system, solutions, and processes.
Support other teams providing information requested (e.g. SW files location, flashing tools, traceability information, etc.) for all Engineering builds and Production
Communicate regularly to management on activities and status for all programs assigned
Review, track and sign off all SW QUALs/PCRs/ECR/ECOs for internal and external ECUs
Manage multiple concurrent releases/build and deployments from development to production rollout
Manage the pre-release SW testing in the Mfg Test lab, CM, and Internal sites
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and lead the team to achieve goals
Track all open SW issues that affect these teams and manage to resolution
To support engineering teams at HQ during final verification of SW intended to be released to production
Skills
HW Program Management or HW/SW TPM role in an Engineering role
Skilled in working with multiple organizations across different cultures and regions
Problem resolutions tools
Ability to work in a small, motivated group within a larger organization
Configuration management process (knowledge and implementation)
Engineering Change Request, Issue manager and configuration management
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, in CS, EE, CE or related field
7+ years of experience in electronics to end customers
At least 5 years of experience in technical roles
Experience in the SW release process, SW testing, Jira, waterfall (Development), SCRUM, and build processes required
Experience in high volume Consumer or Enterprise, with Automotive ECU experience a definite plus
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
ERP, Bug tracking and ECO/BOM systems experience (Examples; NetSuite, Jira, Arena, MKS, Smart Bear)
Excellent communication skills (writing and oral)
Preferred qualifications
Knowledge of UDS standard (User level)
Knowledge of CAN and DoIP protocols (User level)
